EXPERIMENTING WITH POLYMER CLAY AND PEBEO -----AGAIN!

As you know I love these Pebeo paints.  The result is a surprise every time I use them.

My sweet dentist that I made the crosses for in the previous post loved the pendant I made his assistant and he asked if I would make one for his wife.  Of course I forgot to take a picture of the one I gave her.  I decided I wanted to do a test with polymer clay and Pebeo again and make his wife a pendant like the one I made my friend only smaller.

Sorry the background looks dirty but these are still wet and I didn't want to touch them or move them.  If you look at the large football shaped pendant in the middle (click on the picture), you will see squares of texture coming through the paint.  I made the polymer clay base by running my sheet of clay which was done on the pasta machine on number 1 which is the largest setting on my machine.  I ran the clay through again on the number 1 with a thin rubber texture sheet.
I got this from Shades of Clay many years ago and haven't seen them any where since.  It goes through the pasta machine so easy.  I doubled the clay in half so each side would have the squares and circles texture on it.  Pressed it together and then cut out the pendant shapes.  Since the bottom was flatter after I baked it, I put the paint on the bottom.  When I put the paint on I used a toothpick, I thought I put it on pretty heavy.  When I looked an hour later, I could see the circle starting to show through.  I was kind of surprised but I really liked the effect.  Once the paint is dry, I'll put Magic Glos on to protect them.  I usually do one of coat of Magic Glos, sand the edges and back and buff them and then put another coat of Magic Glos on.  I don't know if the texture will show through the Magic Glos or not.  I'll take some pictures when I'm done.

I'M NOT A HOARDER

BUT, I do find things that I bought and forgot about.
I was looking for something the other day and found some Secret Compartment Key Chains that I forgot I had.  So, I put some clay on them and they will go in my Etsy shop.  I love these things for keeping pills or toothpicks in.  I keep my migraine pills in one and hang it on my purse.

I've had a migraine all day and it's been a really bad one.  I was laying back in the recliner on the couch and Buster

Came up and laid on me for an hour so I guess I got my cat scan today.  Didn't help the headache but made me feel better.

INTERNATIONAL POLYMER CLAY SWAPS

I belong to a facebook group called International Polymer Clay Swaps.  Every time we do a swap the administrator gives you the title of what the swap is and we also do a twinchie (same as an inchie only twice as big).  This time it was Valentines Day and it could be what ever you wanted.  I had already started doing a couple pieces so I'm lucky I got done and got them sent by the time the date came that we had to send them out.  My swap partner was Laurel Steven who lives in California, the last two swap partners live in Canada and it seemed like it took 3 weeks for the packages to get there.  Laurel took a great picture of what I sent her and put it on facebook and told me I could use the picture for my blog.  As you know I put my light box away when we had the flood and after cleaning the dining room I didn't feel like messing it up again so my pictures aren't as nice as this one.  She uses photo shop and I'm too cheap to buy that so I use Picasa.
The top left is my twinchie that I made from a lightning cane that I had.  The middle one is a heart with resin and rub on letters and more resin (Lupe Meter inspired that one).  I put it on a Kumihimo chain and made a keychain/purse bling out of it.  The one on the right is a pendant I made with the same cane (sanded and buffed) and put on a silver neck chain.

These are my pictures.  I'll post Laurel's items as soon as I get them.  Now I have to get working on the things I'm going to send to the Oklahoma Clay Guild for their retreat.  Soon as I get rid of this migraine.  Been two days.  Anyone else out there get them?  What do you do for them?

GOODBYE IRENE - HERE COMES THE NETTING AND JADE

I have two friends on the east coast and I sent them emails last night to find out if they were ok and both are doing just fine.

One of them is Linda of http://lindasartbarn.blogspot.com/.  She's in Vermont, but if you read her blog and see her beautiful picture, she'll tell you about what she's did to prepare for Irene.  I've always wanted to go to Vermont.  Probably because of the maple syrup and now I can go see Linda.

The other one is Lynda of SC Diva Designs.  Lynda is is one of the most talented woman I know when it comes to polymer clay.  I've purchased many of her tutorials from Etsy and the latest is her Faux Jade Tutorial http://www.etsy.com/listing/68710253/faux-jade-tutorial-6-with-16-color  just click on the link and it will take you right there.  This is one of the most complete tutorials I've ever seen.  Her instructions on finishing are worth the price of tutorial.  Not only that, she gives you  recipes for 16 different colors of jade.  This Friday I woke up with another one of my killer migraines but I decided I wasn't going to let it get me down and I was going to make some faux jade.  After I was done, I realized I had done one of the steps backwards from the way Lynda does it but I like the way these turned out.  I used a different kind of clay than Lynda suggests in her tutorial and I got plaquing but I like it and Lynda did too.

I added more translucent to the 3 on the right because the green lady was kind of mushy when I was working on her.   The bottom one I hand carved the other 3 I used stamps.  You can click on them to see them up close.  I spent a lot of time sanding and buffing them.

WEDDING JEWELRY

The wedding is 3 weeks from yesterday.  I got my shoes in the mail yesterday.  Patent leather sandals with 3 inch heels.
I left the picture small because I have big feet and it wouldn't look so bad.  Anyway, I have to practise walking in these.  I haven't had a 3 inch heel on in 20 years.  Wish me luck.  I have to take the gifts to the altar in the church.  Hope there is a Wayne Crane there to pick me up when I fall.  They really are comfortable, at least they were while I was sitting down :0).  If you have any suggestions about how to walk in heels, now is the time to come forward.

Anyway, I finished the netted necklace and now Mr. Fashionista says it isn't fufu enough for the wedding outfit.  So, I'll wear it for the rehearsal dinner.

Needs a bracelet and earrings to match.  If this headache ever goes away I'll start one.  If anyone has a remedy for migraines, please let me know.  I'm doing a polymer clay class tomorrow with a lady that does energy healing.  She is going to show my husband the pressure points so he can help with my headaches.  I told him that and he gave me one of those funny looks and then poked me in the forehead and said "how's that?).  He still doesn't get it :0).
